hands up if it’s still soup season where you are 🙌🏻
Soups get a bad rep in the macro world and that makes me sad! Soups can be just as “macro friendly” as the rest of ’em.
Take this chicken poblano soup. It can be protein, fat and carbohydrate balanced by dialing up and down a few ingredients. Add beans, leave out sour cream, add sliced avocado, thicken it up, thin it out – it will impact the macro make up.
What do you do if you don’t have full control over the ingredients or portion sizes? Make an educated best guess – heat, eat and enjoy. I also love the strategy of pre-logging in the dairy. Add the meal in your diary ahead of time and eat “around” it with the rest of the day’s meals and snacks.
Macros are meant to be a framework for teaching you how much food is appropriate for you. Don’t let tracking stop you from eating food you love 👻
