Things to remember during celebratory and social events involving food:
🎄 just because everyone else is doesn’t mean you have to
🎄 what other people think about your food decisions doesn’t matter
🎄 you don’t have to eat everything that’s offered to you
🎄 it’s also perfectly okay to have the things you do want
🎄 ”no thanks” is a complete sentence
Speaking up for yourself is a form of boundary setting. And, boundary setting especially in relation to food, eating habits and your body is a loving act. And while it’s not your responsibility if another person doesn’t respond to your boundary, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set it.
